What brand of US batteries will be compatible with the New Leader AA batteries. I tried Duracell, and they don’t work.

Where can I buy a New Leader mercury free heavy duty 9V battery? One came with a gift I received fot Christmas last year and has since died. Other 9V batteries will not fit in the device.
